De Soto – a rare car found in Cuba

We came across this un-restored car when visiting friends in Cuba. These cars are a moving museum, part of Cuba’s cultural history and there is no way that they should be allowed to be exported out of the country. They are a tribute to the Cuban people and the inhumane blockade exacted on them by the United States.

Fork in the lake

This a photo we took in Vevey, Lac Leman, Switzerland. A strange sculpture in the shallow part of the lake. This giant fork sculpture was created by Jean-Pierre Zaugg and Georges Favre in 1995. They are both Swiss artists. From here, if you turn around you will see the food museum, the Alimentarium.

Ban private cars from our city centres

Our cities our polluted, we are all being harmed by the people driving into them in their four wheel drives and Audi/BMW/VW etc etc etc. So no more private cars should be allowed, only buses, taxis, short term rental cars, bicycles, scooters, motorcycles and maybe even these could be like renting the Boris bikes. It would be better for our health and our journey times would be reduced. The Twizy

Moving the UK government to a Northern City

The Palace of Westminster is in need of a major refurbishment that will cost billions of pounds and this creates a golden opportunity to move the UK government to Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool or another suitable location. The effect of moving the UK government to a Northern city will be to create a true and lasting Northern powerhouse through the building of airport, rail and road infrastructure and the services needed to support them. It will create lasting employment in all sectors and through wealth creation will lead to a more financially balanced United Kingdom. The value of property will increase due to the additional movement or opening of embassies, consulates, think tanks, consultants, auditors, business and government agencies and other support organisations.

London will of course lose some of these organisations but with the Palace of Westminster renovated and converted for uses such as a History of the United Kingdom museum losses should be minimised. In fact London is and will increase as a very popular tourist destination. New York does not suffer because the government is in Washington. From the point of view of unifying the United Kingdom it will have the effect of making ordinary citizens feel for the first time that they matter as much as those who live in the South of the country.

See differences in unemployment rates, types of employment, property prices, facilities, opportunities, individual wealth etc between London and the South East and the rest of the of the United Kingdom.

Corporations, the way it is, the way it will be

Most corporations are by definition evil, intent on reducing their workforce through automation, squashing their suppliers on price. We won’t be surprized when jobs go to North Korea, Iran and Burma. They opt for no holds barred when regulation is light and of course it is in a hypocracy where the elected leave their posts to join said corporations. Expect much worse by 2030 when another 1.2 billion will be added to the workforce where work is no longer available and has been replaced. Poverty and mass movement of people, we have only just begun unless there is a real awakening in the masses.
